Abstract (Scott's Session:)
In the many of SEO audits I do, I am able to see many types of wasted effort in outdated techniques and underprioritized efforts resulting in competition dominating the channel. For many, it seems, SEO is still considered an “add-on” or “nice-to-have” marketing feature… something you “do to a website” and call it a day.
The opportunity costs, rarely calculated, can be enormous. I am compelled in these cases to help clients to understand that their company needs to pivot slightly to succeed in SEO and then to help them prioritize this adjustment. In this presentation, I will hope to equip the audience to make better decisions in their SEO related activities in 2019+.
Included in the topics will be the explosion of Google’s AI/brand signals, voice search, choosing content to develop and promote, and presenting a consistent business presence to Google locally. And, essentially, I will hope to change the perception of SEO as a short-term fix and position it as a long-term, interwoven activity that it must be to be competitive.
My advice is slightly biased to the medium to large firms with dedicated marketing resources, but take-aways should offer value to agencies, executives and digital marketing practitioners. I will minimize the use of technical terms.
My goal would be that anyone would leaving the presentation would be able to discuss and scrutinize a SEO plan, RFP or proposal much more confidently. Following the presentation, I will be happy to address audience questions about specific scenarios and considerations for special verticals.
