It would seem ludicrous to even consider SEO services that send garbage SPAM, but amazingly I talk to people at least once per week who have “gave them a shot” because it “surely can’t hurt anything.” In fact, it can hurt a LOT of things. Here’s a deconstruction of the spam itself.

I’m ashamed to be in the same state as this. At least this snafu provides a sliver of comic relief.
CNN’s headline reads “Geek Squad picks unlikely place for PC-hospital” … because it’s in Hillview Kentucky. But there’s nothing slighly “unlikely” about it, given the presence of the UPS air hub, a pool of tech workers, and a high quality of life. One wonders if CNN ever looks at the world through anything but 8″ monitors.
I think we all can agree that the lifespan of a twitter should be about, oh, 2 minutes. But now they live on, cached even, in Google Search Engine Results pages.
If we want to look up data, enter data, and use communications tools, why don’t we all take a lesson or two from Edward Tufte or Jakob Nielson and create an efficient, fast, textually driven site appropriate to the purpose. I hate to see government sites where loose-canon web designers are set free with no regard for the real needs of users.
