Google rolled out their answer to Facebook Groups yesterday, it’s called Google Community. It’s full of the slick, modern and mobile friendly features that Google+ has.
I’m into metal detecting, and most metal detecting forums are created with 10-year-old software and frankly are a bit clunky. Not only did the Google community set up smoothly, it offers a very easy UI and many google features to boot.
Now the big question is, how will Google display links to that community in the search results? I’m expecting them to create a rich snippet style callout box at the top of the SERPs soon, giving the most popular communities some real horsepower – and possibly giving Google+ a bit of a boost over the other networks.
