be sure to leave Google a comment feedback for google voice – telling them they should create a secondary schedule for SMS… it would be best if they just made it work without us needing to do any scripting.

But.. I’d like to figure out how to make the sms reply-able too. I tried to add my phone’s email address to my google voice acct, but my carrier cut the email off at 160 chars, so I couldn’t get the verification URL. I’m thinking of some ideas, like changing the reply-to address to be back to my server, and using a rule to grab it and send the reply back to google. (I think they only allow you send the text replies from an email they have on file for you.)

Figure it’ll take some postfix, procmail and shell scripting magic to accomplish this. But I’m a little lazy, so i began a net search to find an answer, this is the only result i found so far. thanks for the post tho!

Try sending an email directly to your phone as a test… see if that bounces back. If so, then Google Voice is never going to be able to send through also. If it bounces on a direct test, you’ll need to talk to your cell phone co. Good luck.

I found out my phone number e-mail address, but when forwarding, there is a “Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently” message. Is there a way around it? Thanks.
